As we approach this small, plain shop, our eyes are first drawn to the window\’s display. Summer\’s must have items dresses— sandals, shorts, and beach bags— are now at a discounted price.

Curious, we walk inside. The store is divided into two sides by clothing style. On the left are neon colors, animal prints, and screen tees designed for teenage customers. On the right side there is more sophisticated clothing aimed for older women like handmade sweaters, knitted tops, high-waisted shorts, business wear, and countless tunic shirts.

Large retro peace sign necklaces are displayed next to bright earrings and rings. There is a rack of braided belts and suspenders next to numerous patterned and solid colored scarves. And although there is not a very large selection of bags, the ones displayed are colorfully unique.

Fashion Q has a record of selling popular clothing at an affordable price. Their dark and light wash jeans range from twenty to thirty dollars depending on the cut and style. Tee shirts and camisoles are as low as four dollars, and screen tees are only ten. The knitted tops and cotton dresses are around fifteen to twenty-five dollars depending on the detail and design. And besides the occasional necklace or intricate bracelet, most of the jewelry is under ten dollars.

It is no surprise that many Barons looking for a great deal shop here.

To get an inside look, we interviewed the owner, Mr. Juang Ho Park.

Baron Banner: What made you decide to run a clothing store?

Juang Ho Park: I worked in clothing stores for ten years. I was a store manager and a customer at other stores as well. I thought my experience would help me successfully run my own shop.

BB: How do you choose the clothes to sell?

JHP: My experience helps me decide, because I know what types of clothing people like. I browse for sales on the Internet, and then compare them with wholesale store prices

BB: Where do you find your merchandise?

JHP: We buy from over a thousand wholesale stores in LA. I select the items one by one, and take different pieces from each of the stores.

BB: Around what age group are your most common customers from?

JHP: Our customers range from teenagers to grandmothers, but our average customers are around 35 years old.

BB: What is your store\’s motto?

JHP: Better quality at a lower price. We choose the best quality, and the prices we set are affordable for teenagers. We also sell all kinds of unique clothing for all seasons.

BB: Thank you for your time!

JHP: You\’re welcome!

Fashion Q\’s reputation is correct: popular clothes at lower prices. They have the latest trends mixed with some unexpected, unique pieces, and also have excellent service. Fashion Q is a small shop in Fountain Valley with potential to become a top-notch store in the not so distant future.
