No you dont get extra classes to take And yes you do get two days to do homework but you have twice the homework because you are doing say two one hour lessons in one day both have pros and cons wrong.
block schedule at the other schools works like this

Though many students think it'd be impossible to sit through 2 hours for one class, it's not that bad. I mean we do it for finals, right?
