The Fountain Valley High School Vocal Music program hosted their end of the year Broadway concert at Huntington Beach High School.

All five of the award-winning choirs began rehearsing for the concert in late April which gave them only a month to execute this remarkable performance.

“Even though we only had a month to prepare for the show, it was enough to learn the music, choreography, and create our costumes. We had to go to HBHS every night to practice the week before the show,” said Rachel Butera (‘10).

The first half began on a light note. The choirs performed a number of nostalgic Broadway pieces such as “Happiness” from You\’re a Good Man Charlie Brown and the song “A Bushel and a Peck”. The first half featured several memorable performances that kept the audience begging for more.

Watching the Baron Choir boys frolicking around on stage in tights during their “Men in Tights” number stood out as one of the most unforgettable moments.

“I enjoyed ‘Zero to Hero\’ the most. The four ladies singing ‘Mr. Sandman\’ were great and the middle school choir was enjoyable as well,” complimented Mrs. Hart, grandmother of a singer.

The second half consisted of Disney songs performed by Troubadours.

It featured Disney classics such as “Whistle While You Work” from Snow White, “A Whole New World” from Aladdin, and the famous Disney theme song “When You Wish Upon A Star.”  The second half also included ballroom, tap, jazz, and contemporary dancing. All 30 musical numbers captured the smiles of the entertained audience.

“I loved the second half.  It was colorful and fun and I could tell they put a lot of work into it,” said Jennifer Bui (‘10).
