Pool Dyed Green – First Prank by Edison?

Green is generally an unwelcome color here at FVHS, and if it\’s the color of our pool, it\’s not only repulsive but also chemically unsafe to swim in. Swimmers and water polo players were surprised to find the pool a greenish color on November 2, the first day of Edison Week.
Alarmed, the aquatic team members rushed to a pool pH testing kit. For the pool to be chemically safe enough to swim in, the pH has to be between 6 and 8. However, the pool\’s pH was extremely basic at 10.0. Either the water had been tampered with or the filtration system had malfunctioned.
When we asked about the possible tampering of the pool, Dawn at Supervision responded, “Administration was gone for a meeting yesterday, and nothing was reported to Supervision.”
Junior Travis Beckman tested the pool and consulted a nearby chemistry teacher, Mr. Ginex-Orinion, who said, “The chances that this is an Edison prank is high. A pool would not reach this kind of state by itself, and who from FVHS would do this? Most likely it would be ammonia that was poured into the pool. Nothing else would make it turn into such a fluorescent green.”
The water polo boys even had to wash themselves in vinegar after accidently jumping in, since bathing with soap would only agitate their skin.
The following morning, the pool had returned to a comfortable, Baron-blue color. Soon enough, normalcy will set back in, and the swimmers and water polo players will continue their aquatic activities.
Because no chargers were caught committing the act, no accusations can be made against the chargers.
