On Saturday, December 12, 2009, Fountain Valley High School\’s Operation Smile (OpS) and National Honors Society (NHS) clubs teamed up to host their annual ice-skating fundraiser event at Anaheim Ice. Many students from both clubs crowded the indoor ice rinks alongside their family and friends for some wintertime fun, despite the heavy rain outdoors.

“Ice skating was fun,” says Daniel Park (\’11), “My friend, Norman, didn\’t know how to ice skate, so I had to help him out a lot from falling,”

The crowded rinks posed a small problems to the skaters, who also had to shareit with regular ice-skaters as well.

“It makes me jealous when I see those figure skaters showing off,” says Kelly Torok (\’11), “It makes me feel weird, especially when the skaters are younger girls, since I don\’t skate very well,”

Despite the minor problems, the event was once again very successful this year, as both clubs were able to raise more than $1000 overall.

OpS\’s next big event may be volunteering at a children\’s hospital in January. More details about the volunteering event will be released after break.
