As the new year comes around , we all look back to what happened the previous year, to what stood out most. In this top ten list, you will learn what was voted as the “best” in 2009 based on a variety of sources.
Best New Artist: Known as “The new Madonna” or as the “Current Queen of Pop”, Lady Gaga has roamed the charts of 2009\’s music playlist. She was voted as the best new artist on MTV\’s music awards and her songs “Just Dance”, “Poker Face”, “Paparazzi”, and “Bad Romance” have all created a sensational movement
Best Song: Rolling Stone Magazine voted “Moment of Surrender” by U2 as the best song in 2009 from their newest album No Line on the Horizon.
Best Movie: Today\’s Film Festival of Sundance 2009 voted Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire, previously titled Push, as the best movie of 2009.
Best Book: Based on the ALA (American Library Association) polls, teens choose Paper Towns by John Green as their favorite book of 2009. Aren\’t you surprised it\’s not one of the books from the Twilight Saga ?
Best Album: So far, the best album (based on the polls of MTV) would be Animal Collective\’s album Merriweather Post Pavillion (MPP) which consists of their notorious songs “My Girls”, “Summertime Clothes”, and “Lion in a Coma.”
Best Entertainment News: Yo, I\’m really happy for you and Ima let you finish but Artist Kanye West made the best Entertainment News of all time (of all time) when he interrupted the winner of VMA\’s female video award, Taylor Swift, while she was giving her speech to the audience and her fans.
Best TV series: Time Magazine voted Mad Men as the top TV series of 2009. With it\’s incredible third season filled with great plot, the show was voted for best drama. It\’s third season ended in November but the show will return with another season on AMC in 2010.
Best Video Game: The best platformer game of 2009 would be Nintendo\’s New Super Mario Bros. Wii as told from CNN news. The game is rated E and is perfect for a party of four that is willing to have an amazing blast.
Best Gadget: Google\’s smartphone Motorola Droid scales the charts of gadgets this year. The Droid has an accurate and acute touchscreen and a standard keyboard according to Time Magazine. The Motorola Droid is comparable to the iPhone, and the two products are rivals in the technology industry.
Best Dressed: Taken from the OC Register Newspaper, First Lady Michelle Obama sets a fashionable example for all modern American mothers today. Her elegant yet chic inaugural gown produced a high amount of cheer for the world of fashion. She is one of the leading figures of today\’s styles and is seen as one of the best dressed women today.
