As time flies, the exciting time of year once again sprouts where FVHS teams are going to put their skills and tactics into test.
The girls and boys soccer team just started the complicated and hectic battle for the title of Sunset League Champions. They have been practicing vigilantly, having one common goal: CIF.
Overall the boys won 5 games and lost in 7 games during pre season and the girls have been a winning streak of winning 7 games so far.

Junior Courtney Garrity takes control of the ball.
On Jan 6th, the boy\’s night ended with a loss against Esperanza, 0-4. But the boys didn\’t give up. They keep focusing on their ultimate goal to stay strong.
On Jan 8th, The Boys lost again against Newport, 0-1. Currently their Sunset League record is 0-2.
Some eye-catching plays were made by Seniors Koushi Taniguchi and Team Captain Josh Garcia.
“They have been working hard. Every game is a new challenge and they put their whole mind in to the games and I believe they are getting better,” said a spectator from the audience.
On Jan 7th, the girls lost for the first time against Newport Harbor 0-1. Keeping the record 0-1 in Sunset League and #1 overall.
This time Coach Alyson commented that the two girls who played exceptionally well were Senior and Team Captain Makenna Henry and Freshman Madison Gomez.
“We have been getting better in each game. We are working hard and trying to reach our goal of finishing in the top half of sunset league,” comments coach Alyson.
Both teams have been working well and keeping their heads up high. Not just wishing for better games, but proving it too.
Come see them in the boy\’s next home game against Los Alamitos on Jan 13th, and the girl\’s next game against Los Alamitos on Jan 12th.
