October 23, 1958. Pierre Culliford’s initial debut of his small blue creatures called Smurfs. As tall as 3 apples high, with blue skin, white trousers with a hole for their short tails, and a white hat in the style of a Phrygian cap, Smurfs(French: Les Schtroumpfs) have been a unforgettable childhood memory. An intriguing animation that had brought my me and my grandmother together for several years in the past, and now THIS! GONE are the treasured Phrygian caps! Gone are the Sarsaparilla leaves that filled the Smurfs delicate tummies! Gone are the deep marshes, the scorching deserts and the high mountain ranges of their treasured homeland “le Pays maudit!” And in its place? This despicable and horrid rendition of my childhood. Blue blobs of unrecognized slime, barring their violent dentures. What has happened to the kind and generous Papa Smurf that I once loved and admired? What has happened to the cherished children’s television series that helped me through troubling times? GONE. all gone.
Thomas Warloe, Heng-yi Liu, Heng-yi Liu, Sheshanna Phan, Connor Halsted.
You all have led me into troubled times. You all have thrown away my past, my memories, and my youth. You all have left me with nothing but this. “Smurfs” attacking other “Smurfs!” It’s over. There is nothing left. The memories I once cherished. Dead and forgotten.

Actually, I find your comment very amusing. You see, it wasn’t us who really came up with the name, we were going to name them “blob people.” However, while showing other people our comic, a lot of people thought that they were smurfs. So we adopted the name “Smurfman.” They are in no way supposed to be any type of depiction of real smurfs, and I have to say, they look nothing like them either. It’s just an name, the first one that came to mind to many people who saw this comic before it was posted. And seriously, I think you’re overreacting. But that’s okay, cause your comment was really entertaining to read.

    Hello,

As you may know I am Papa Smurf. The *real* Papa smurf. Yeah you read that right. The *real* Papa smurf. While I do understand your views on this subject matter, I would like to inform you that me and the other smurfs from Smurf Village are completely aware of the situation, and an investigation has been *smurfed* into this comic strip. But, so far we have found nothing wrong with the above comic. I mean, don’t tell me that those “things” look anything like us honorable smurfs. While it is slightly disturbing to us, the fact that some weird creatures that share the same name as us smurfs are being devoured by some beast is none of mine, or your business. Oh well. “Smurfman” just ate all of the little “smurfs.” Too bad. So sad. Who cares. Its just a comic strip. But in “the Cursed land”, ironically everything is quite well. We’re just *smurfing* along like normal. We (Me, Smurfette, and all the other little smurfs) are doing just fine. There’s no reason to feel the need to protect us from the “evils” of the modern world; as a matter of fact, i found this a very “interesting” cartoon. Now, if you don’t mind, I (Papa Smurf, yes, *the* Papa Smurf) will be *smurfing* along back to smurf village. I don’ always get time to use the *smurfuter* and get to *smurf* the internet, but this made my day. And, no offense intended toward your comment, but as a seasoned and experienced smurf comic reader, i found it quite strange that you actually thought that those were really smurfs. I mean, if you *smurf* over the drawing, it says “not really smurfs”. Have a nice day, smurf supporter. And to all the other smurfs out there – We must rally together to end evil in the world, especially Mega Slugs. *hint hint* I hear there is a sequel coming out. Be sure to *smurf* it.

    Sincerely,
Papa Smurf (the *real* Papa Smurf)

Wow, I could hardly remember the smurfs at all. In fact, all my research on smurfs came from these two guys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9A0YCUCZbI

The Smurfs are awesome. But what most people don’t realize is that the Smurfs are a strong and resiliant species that is determined to monopolize the fantasy creature realm…their attacks have been recorded in history for centuries. Here is a recent example of a Smurf attack!
