Here are your morning announcements for Wednesday, March 10th, 2010:

Congratulations to Principal Chris Herzfeld for placing third in his age group, the Master\’s Class of competitive Mountain biking for the 2009-10 season.

It\’s time to pick your favorite teacher of the Year. Each year PTSA honors two teachers, one veteran and one new teacher, neither of which has won the award previously. Fountain Valley High School PTSA recognizes the important role that professional educators have in our school and want all students, parents and staff members to take this opportunity to identify two of our teachers by nominating the “best of the best”. Ballots and ballot boxes are located in the Activities Office and in the Main Office. Nomination Forms must be placed in the ballot boxes by April 1st.

Attention Seniors – Please check the diploma list posted on the windows outside the administration building. This is how your name will be printed on your diploma and in the graduation program. If your name is missing or needs to be corrected, see the registrar. The deadline is Wednesday, March 17TH.

The Jostens Ring Man will be back Thursday, March 18th during Lunch by the Cafeteria for Class Ring Orders. Extra ordering packets are available in the Activities Office. You can also design your custom class ring online at Jostens.com

After a long wait, the Data-Match results are in! Come to room 131 or to the Senior Commission table at lunch to pick up your results. Results are $3 for both sets and $2 for just school-wide.

Buenos Dias Barons! Are you a Latino student planning on going to college? Are you interested in a successful future? See Mr. Walters in the Career Center about the Latino Youth Leadership Academy AHORA! Only the first 25 applications will be accepted for this field trip!

FNL is hosting the sixth annual talent show this Friday in the gym at 7:00. Support your Barons!

Mrs. Marquez and the Baron Bridge Builders are hosting an interactive Diversity retreat that counts as a Saturday School, this Saturday, March 13th. Please see Mrs. Marquez to sign up in room 231. This will be first come, first served.

Hey Barons-do you need a haircut? Do you want to donate 8 or more inches of your hair to a cancer patient? Come to the “S(hair) the Love” Hair Drive this Friday in the cafeteria from 3-7pm! You can get your hair cut by professional stylists, make a donation to the American Cancer Society, and even get some yummy, delicious baked goods to eat!! Again, come to the S(hair) the Love Hair Drive this Friday!! Pick up your application with Mr. Walters in the Career Center today!!

For your convenience an SAT Test Prep course will be held on campus beginning Saturday, March 13th. Contact www.revolutionprep.com for further information.

Yearbook wants you! Fill out an application in room 404 and turn it in by Friday.

Attention all sophomores and other identified students, please make arrangements to be on campus by 7:45 am, on Tuesday March 16 and Wednesday March 17 to take the CA High School Exit Exam. Stay tuned for details about ALPHA station testing locations.

Hey juniors, sophomores, and freshmen. Are you a high-achieving student looking to attend a top university with highly successful athletic programs? Come to a Duke University information session today. Sign up with Mr. Walters in the career center.

Coronet applications are available in the Activities Office and online at FVHS.com. All applications must be submitted to Department Coordinators this Friday, March 12th.

Interested in being on ASB Executive Council next year? Please attend one of two mandatory meetings: Friday, March 12 at 3 pm in room 301 or at lunch on Monday, March 15 in room 301. Please see Mrs. Krimker in the Activities Office if you have any questions!

Here are your morning announcements for Monday, March 8th, 2010:

Senior Barry Gee won three matches this past weekend at the Wrestling State Finals and was one match away from placing as an All American! He beat several state ranked wrestlers and recorded two pins during the tournament. Congratulations to all of our wrestlers on another successful season. They finished the year ranked 9th in Orange County and 2nd in the Sunset League.

Congratulations to all members of our FVHS FBLA chapter who competed in Saturday’s Southern Section Competition:

-Dana Pham Tran- Charles D. Cox Name Tag Award, 4th place and Computer Applications, 7th place
-Februnia Ishak – Creed, 6th place

-Thang Nguyen- Business Calculations, 8th place and Economics, 3rd place

-Albert Lai – Business Communications, 7th place and Economics, 1st place

-Uyen Tran – Business Math, 9th place and Intro to Business, 8th place

-Steven Chan- Computer Applications, 8th place and Computer Problem Solving, 7th place

-Donald Chan – Marketing, 3rd place

-Aileen Nguyen – Sports Management, 10th place

-Linda Doan, Aileen Nguyen and Nicole Quang – Entrepreneurship, 5th place

-Alan Bui and Brandon Nguyen- Global Business, 5th place and Management Decision Making with Sheshanna Phan – 4th place.

FVHS placed 6th overall in team standings.

Congratulations to our Percussion for taking 1st Place in Temecula on Sunday in a major tournament.

Our Jazz Ensemble and Color Guard also did great on Saturday. Even the all new Middle School Marching Band placed 1st in a Parade Saturday. FV is a leader in Performing Arts!

Attention all Sophomore Commission members, there will be a meeting in Mrs. Williams’ Room 221 today at lunch.

Attention 9th and 10th grade students: If you failed a math or English class last semester you need to make up the credits. Sign up for CREDIT RECOVERY CLASS tomorrow at lunch in the Guidance conference room. Cost for the class is $20. Math classes are offered Monday and Thursday from 3:30 to 5:00pm in room 302. English classes are offered Tuesday and Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:00 pm in room 302.
