ere are your morning announcements for Friday, April 23rd, 2010:

SENIORS, Graduation Announcements are here!  Pick up your graduation announcements over by room 412 before the end of lunch.

Congratulations to all of the drama students who attended and competed in the Cal State Long Beach Theatre Festival. Michelle North, Mischi Doa, Lisa Stephanian, Mary Lopez, Chelsea Harvey, and Andrew Neal all made it to semi- finals.

Prom Rose Grams will go on sale today! Rose grams are $3 for one rose and $5 for two. Grams delivered Wednesday, May 5. Get your date a rose to show you care. Grams are also perfect for underclassmen too! Get your prom rose gram from a Senior Commission member or in room 131 until Friday, April 30!

On May 18, 19, and 20, our school will participate in the State STAR testing program, a testing process in which we have excelled in the past and have the highest API score in the school district.  Our score last year was 868.  This year several students have researched the topic to determine a target goal.  The goal they have selected is 880, a challenging, but attainable goal. Every test score counts, so we need everyone\’s best effort.  Information about the Incentive program is coming!  We will have raffle prizes and other incentives again this year.  Soon your period three teacher will share information with you about the upcoming tests.  Get Ready Barons, the number is 880!

Seniors….Grad Night 2010 is approaching fast.  Applications are available in activities office, online or there is a packet being sent home.  Don’t miss out on the Party of the Year.  The theme is “A Knight to Remember” and it is a huge celebration for you to have fun with your friends and celebrate your years at Fountain Valley.  The cost is $ 100.00 until the end of April and then goes up to $120.00 in May.  Don’t be left out, make your reservations today for Grad Night 2010, A Knight to Remember.

The Fountain Valley High School Drama Department presents the musical- You\’re A Good Man Charlie Brown. Tickets are available starting Wednesday April 29th in room 309 at lunch or after school. One night only- Student Preview on Tuesday May 4th @ 7pm for a $5 discounted price. Additional performances are $10 for students: Wednesday- May 5th @ 7pm, Thursday- May 6th @ 7pm, Friday- May 7th @ 3pm & 7pm. SPACE IS LIMITED so act fast.

ASB will be hosting the return of the Battle of the Bands on April 30th.  Today is the deadline to sign up. The winner of the competition will get $100.00.  Solo acts, two-man bands and full bands are welcome to participate.  Come by the Activities Office during lunch if you have any questions.

Want to win an Ipod?  Design or draw a t-shirt for Cross Countrys annual Central Park Invitational Race.  All entries are due April 30th.  For more information, pick up a flyer in room 241.

Hey Senior Boys!  Mr. Baron is coming up.  Applications are now available in the Activities Office and are due today.  Show us what you got!

If you are planning on going to Prom, make sure to clear all of your detentions.  The last Saturday schools before prom are April 24th, and May 1st.  Guest contracts will be available on April 26th.

Guest contracts for Prom are available beginning today.  Prom tickets go on sale Tuesday, April 27th.  Make sure to get cleared, have your guest contract in by May 4th at 3:00pm.  Tickets will stop selling on May 6 at 3:00pm.  Ticket prices are $60.00 w/ASB or Super Baron and $65.00 without.  You can buy yours as a single or a couple.

ASB is hosting a spelling bee at lunch in the bowl on Tuesday, April 27 through Thursday, April 29th.  If you are interested in participating, sign up in the Activities Office.

The Instrumental Music Spring Show is here, tonight, Wednesday at 7pm in the Gym. Hear music from our Jazz Band, Orchestra, both Concert Bands, Color Guard, & Percussion. Admission is only $5 but FREE for our Staff.

Data Match results are still available. Come to room 131 for yours. $2 for School-wide results only, $3 for both school-wide and your grade level matches.

Spring is here and what is a better way to celebrate this wonderful season than by buying an Orchestra Spring Gram for $1.00 each. They are due in room 310 by tomorrow, Thursday, April 22nd. Grams will include a festive lei and a delightful piece played by Orchestra members.

Are you interested in advancing from your college prep English class to an AP or Honors class next year? If so, you must complete the application process by printing the application from the website, gathering information about yourself as a student, and by taking the essay scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, April 22nd after school in the library. There are a limited number of spaces in the AP Honors classes and fulfilling the requirements does not guarantee admission.

ASB is hosting a spelling bee at lunch in the bowl on Tuesday, April 27 through Thursday, April 29th. If you are interested in participating, sign up in the Activities Office.

Here are your morning announcements for Monday, April 19th, 2010:

Congratulations to Sophomore Erica Curry and Senior Collin Lindsey for qualifying for the 2010 CIF Dive Championships. Erica Curry placed second for girls Varsity and Senior, Collin Lindsey placed 3rd for the boys. Erica and Collin were 2 of only 6 divers in Orange County to qualify for CIF Division 1 Championships. Good luck at the CIF Championships May 13th at Fullerton College.

Congratulations to our Color Guard for winning the Silver Medal at the Southern California Color Guard Championships Saturday. Each member received a Silver Medal. This is a real honor and you can also be a part of this outstanding and fun group. Tryouts start May 17th.

Congratulations to the members of FBLA who placed in the following competitions this past weekend at the California FBLA State Leadership Conference: Mina Pham-Tran, Lai Pham and Shary Nguyen placed third in Banking and Financial Systems. Albert Lai placed 6th in Economics. Donald Chan placed 10th in Help Desk and 5th in Marketing and Henry Trinh placed 6th in Impromptu Speaking. Congratulations to all who participated in the Competition.

Students – if you think you qualified for pizza – check the portal for your CST scores. If you improved on two tests – print out your scores and bring them to the tables outside attendance on Wednesday or Friday this week.

Attention 9th, 10th and 11th grade students! Golden West College is hosting Chicano/Latino College Day on Friday, April 23rd, from 8:00-2:00 at Golden West College. This field trip includes presentations, workshops, entertainment and lunch. Sign up for this field trip in the Career Center. For additional information, please see Mr. Walter or Ms. Wong.
