Warner Bros’ Clash of the Titans was released on April 2 2010.The movie had a great cast of actors and actresses, spectacular special effects, a timeless and epic story, even managed to fit in some comedy at a few parts. However, the movie did not flow smoothly, introduced some pointless topics, and was very different from the original tale, which the biggest huge complaint about the movie.

There were many exceptional aspects, like the special effects: I thought they were completely spectacularly at every scene, from the giant scorpions to the colossal Krakin. The scorpions looked like they were made of carved wood. They were so detailed and intricated that the constantly exciting computer generated scenery and setting kept you interested if the action scenes didn\’t.

Next: the story. Clash of the Titans is a timeless Greek epic that told of Perseus, who killed Medusa with her own gaze and turned the Krakin to stone. Originally, Perseus used his shield to cast Medusa’s reflection on herself. However, that got a little tweaked. In this story, he decapitated Medusa without looking into her gaze. Nevertheless, the story was completely engrossing, even with all of the changes.

However, the movie did not come without flaws. First of all, the story was very rushed and it did not flow too smoothly; they could have explained a few of the settings more in depth, like how they arrived to the Underworld. First they are at the witches’ domain and next thing I know they’re at a lake… wait what? How exactly did they get there? The movie also curved far from the actual story. A couple of examples are the ferry to the Underworld and the owl at the beginning at the story. When my friend and I saw Perseus randomly pick up the robot owl we both had different approaches to the situation. I just thought that I needed to know a bit more Greek mythology to understand it. My friend, not so much. He became aggravated and right after the movie, he kept questioning why they put the owl in the movie. It was meant as a navigation tool built by Athena that was used in nearly every scene of the original movie, but it served as a joke in this one.

If you decide to watch this movie in 3D, realize that there is no point to the 3D effects in the movie. The movies does not benefit nor is it harmed by them. The movie never needed the 3D effects because it was not filmed in the way that 3D movies are supposed to be made. The movie just was not meant for the 3D effects.

All in all, I thought it was awesome. The movie was pretty good, but there is definitely room for improvement. My advice? Wait until it comes out at the $3 Theater and then see it.

Final Score: 4/5 Stars
