With ASB executive elections over, Baron Banner was able to catch up with some of ASB Executive Noelle Carney, in charge of Activites for the 2010-2011 school year.
BB: Congratulations on making ASB executive!
NC: Thanks!!
BB: How did you feel when you found you made ASB executive office?
NC: At first, I was just really excited and anxious to find out who else made it, but right away my mind started scrambling on what position I wanted and ideas that I wanted to enforce. I got in the preparation mode pretty quick!
BB: How did you prepare to run for a position in ASB executive?
NC: I knew going into high school that I didn\’t want to look back with any regrets and one thing I really wanted to do was ASB. Being involved with Every 15 Minutes really showed me that I could have a strong influence and impact on the student body, and helped push me to run for executive. And it all just went from there. I think my pick-up line in my speech definitely helped me out too!
BB: What leadership skills do you possess to be a great for the ASB position you currently hold?
NC: Some people think that just because I am loud, I think that I am a leader. But I disagree. For instance, in choir, I show leadership by making sure that everyone is always contributing and is confident. If someone has a question, they always know that they are free to ask me and I won\’t judge them. I leader has to be a person who won\’t judge others, even though they will be judged every day. And I am not a judgmental person so it all works.
BB: Who is your hero?
NC: My hero is without a doubt my mom! She is the strongest person I know and she is not only my mom, but my dad, and my best friend as well. If it weren\’t for her, I would never be the crazy person that I am today!
BB: What is one thing that really motivates you?
NC: I always expect nothing but the best from myself and usually, instead of giving someone else a task, I take the job among myself because I trust myself to do it best. I am motivated to make myself proud and to know I did my best no matter what. If not, then as my worst critic, I would be extremely disappointed in myself.
BB: What other school activities or clubs that you participate in?
NC: Since Freshman year, I have been involved in choir which is my love at the school! I made Troubadours as a sophomore and this past year, I have been a section leader, which helped me gain confidence in leadership. This semester, I auditioned for our school musical, You\’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, and I got to play the role of Lucy, which I just found out got me a nomination for Best Female Vocalist for the Cappie Awards. I absolutely love the theater department at our school. It allows me to be the crazy cat that I am.
BB: What profession do you want to pursue as a career?
NC: I am still very undecided but I have a few ideas. If possible, I first want to move to New York and try to pursue a career in Musical Theater on Broadway. If that does not work out then I have backup plans. Those are a music teacher, a theater teacher, an news reporter, or an event planner. Kind of random, but I know I would love so many aspects of all of those careers!
BB: Do you have a favorite quote or something you live by?
NC: There are two. The first one was introduced to me by Mrs. Henze, a history teacher at Masuda, and it states, “The purpose of life is to live a life of purpose.” This is influential to me because it is exactly how I try to live my life: an entertaining life with no regrets in a safe way and with integrity.
The other quote is from the movie Sweeney Todd. “If I cannot fly, then let me sing.” This signifies my love for music and singing and to me, there is nothing better in life than music.
BB: What is your favorite food?
NC: French Fries. It\’s terrible to admit but I think about French Fries more than I think about anything else in my life. I love them!
BB: If you could be anyone for a day, who would it be?
NC: If there are such things as aliens, I would love to be an alien. Speak in a different language and travel in a weird, spinney, thingy. I don\’t know! Other than that, I am just dandy being myself!
BB: Thank for your time!
NC: No prob!
