Here are your morning announcements for Friday, May 21st, 2010:
Congratulations to Collin Lindsey and Erica Curry for competing at the Dive CIF Championships. Great job to Erica Curry for making all cuts to compete up through “Finals”. Keep up the good work?
Congratulations to Kyle Middlebrooks, Kevin Miller, and Luis Morales for qualifying to the CIF Track and Field Championships. The Barons will be competing at Cerritos College this Saturday.
Congratulations to FVHS Theatre Department for having SIX students nominated for Orange County Cappie awards. These students were voted by other high school drama critics as one of the Top Five performers for a selected category. Over 25 schools participate and hundreds of students are competing for the honor. Congrats to- Senior- Kylie Couch (Choreography), Junior- Andrew Neal (Creativity/Directing), Junior- Noelle Carney (Female Vocalist), Junior- Rene Marino (Comic Actor in a Musical), Sophomore- Chelsea Harvey (Lead Actress in a Play), and Freshman- DJ Canas (Freshman Critic). Juniors Kayla Harkins and Tiffany Le also received special Commendee honors. Outstanding work for our first year of involvement in this exciting program!
FBLA is hosting a fundraiser at Rubio’s today from 3 to 9. Pick up a flyer in Room 220, and grab some grub before Mr. Baron!
Mr. Baron is tonight at 7:00pm. Tickets are available for $3.00 at the Financial Window and for $5.00 at the door. Doors open at 6:30pm! Come watch your senior boys compete for pride, honor, and the Title of Mr. Baron.
The cafeteria will have a hot dog cart outside today, selling hot dogs just like Pinks. We will also be barbequing cheeseburgers. Combos will be just $3.00, come and check out our new jumbo dogs!
Hey Barons, we are making one last order for Baron Wear Sweatshirts. Place your order by Tuesday. Bring $35.00 cash to the Financial Office. Don\’t be left out – Next orders not until August!
Students must hand in their Governor’s Challenge calendars to their 3rd period teachers starting Monday, May 24th. Teachers are to clip them together, place their name and class on them and return them to Ms. Kemper’s mailbox.

Hey Barons! Have you ever dreamed about attending one of the U.S. Military Academies? Are you interested in becoming an officer in the military? Do you want more information about the United States Air Force Academy, the United States Naval Academy, the United States Military Academy at West Point, or the United States Coast Guard Academy? Attention all Coronet Nominees: Rehearsal for our Coronets Program will be held next Monday, May 24th during third period. Please report to the bowl at the beginning of SSR. Everyone is required to attend.
Attention Seniors – Check the list at the Financial Office to see if you have any outstanding old textbook charges. These must be taken care of before graduation tickets will be issued. Just a reminder that all detentions, library fines, and misc. charges must be taken care of as well. Get your issues taken care of early and avoid all of the problems later. Remember, we are accepting CASH only !!

The Fountain Valley High School Drama Department presents their last production of the year- 12 Angry Jurors. Tickets are available at the Finance Office before school and at lunch. One night only- Student Preview on Wednesday May 26th @ 3pm for a $5 discounted price. Additional performances are $8 for students: Thursday- May 27th @ 7pm, Friday- May 28th @ 7pm and Saturday- May 29th @ 7pm in room 309. SPACE IS LIMITED so act fast.
The American Red Cross club is hosting their annual spring blood drive Wednesday, May 26. If you are above 17, you can sign up at the bowl area and room 405 during lunch, until Monday, May 24. Together, we can save a life.
The supervision office will issue TEMPORARY parking permits to Juniors and Seniors while the crews are working on the roads surrounding FVHS. To obtain a permit, you must meet the criteria. Please come to the supervision office window at lunch for an application and details.

Congratulations to the Varsity Boys\’ 200 Free Relay for breaking the school record at a time of 1:26:28. Our new record holders are Denny Huang, Peter Nguyen, Lyndon Tran and Nick Ingram. Great Job Barons!

Attention Seniors: During STAR testing you are still required to come to school. You must report to the gym no later than 8:30 am on Wednesday, May 19th and Thursday, May 20th. We have some activities planned for you. If you do not show up, you will receive a Saturday school.
Seniors – need those last few hours of community service? Ask your family, friends and neighbors for any electronic device. TV, computers, monitor, old game systems, Stereo, speakers, telephones digital cameras, DVD players, VHS players, printers, modems, cell phones, microwaves, computer pieces and accessories. Bring a car load of E-waste Saturday, May 15 to the Electronic recycling drive and get 2 hours of community service. Every pound counts.

Get ready Barons, it is STAR Test MONTH! On May 18, we will initiate the STAR Test series with a modified schedule to facilitate the 10th grade Science test. On May 19 and May 20, grades 9, 10, and 11 will take standardized exams in their period three classroom. Teachers will give out raffle prizes in every class, classes with 100% attendance will be entered into a drawing for a pizza party, and our school will astound the HBUHSD by achieving the 880 API target goal. We will continue to dominate the competition that has formally challenged us to an API “throw down.” Maintaining the top API score in our school district is a Baron Standard.
Applications for BBN are now available on fvhs.com. This is your last chance to apply for BBN for next year. Deadline is May 17th. If you have any questions, see Mr. Ziebarth in room 306.
Hey all you physically active Barons. Remember to do 30 minutes or more of fitness activity for the Orange County Fitness Challenge and log your time on the calendars that your 3rd period teacher provided. Let’s show the state that – not only are Barons the smartest – but we’re the most physically fit!
