Avi Buffalo: Self-Titled

“What\’s in it for/ Someone with nothing to do/ What\’s in it for me.” Released on April 27, 2010, Avi Buffalo released their first album, Avi Buffalo, one that will catch listeners off guard.

Avi Buffalo was named after lead vocalist and guitarist Avi Zahner-Isenberg. He and his fellow band members (keyboardist/vocalist Rebecca Coleman, bassist Arin Fazio, and drummer Sheridan Riley) are all from Long Beach, California and are currently touring in cities around this state. This youthful group has stepped into the music industry and with them new sounds to be heard around the world.

Their debut album features ten emotianal tracks filled with depression and/or euphoria; both fill the atmosphere—it just depends on what song you listen to. From “Remember Last Time”, the lyrics seem to take a person back to a time of blissful memories where mistakes didn\’t matter. Most of the lyrics from this album seem depressing, the kind of depressing comparable to a first teenager\’s broken heart: “All this time to die/ All this time to die/ Too much time to die/ And I just want to die.” The young band members seem to bring back the dark recollections of the high school days dealing with love, confusion, and frustration. Listen to the album from the beginning to the end (or the end to the beginning) and be prepared to head into lyrics filled with liveliness and sorrows.
