Alex Pham
by Julie King
Alex Pham is a junior here at Fountain Valley High School. He previously played tennis for our Barons, but he has recently turned his attention to Joni\’s Angels, a club on campus, which gives him the opportunity to volunteer every Sunday at the Fountain Valley Regional Hospital in the pediatrics center. Alex plans to contribute to the Baron Banner by photographing many school events and writing entertainment reviews for movies and music and student life articles.
Eventually, Alex hopes to attend UCLA in pursuit to ultimately going to UCSF for medical school to become a pediatrician or oncologist or going a new direction into becoming a psychologist. Alex places an important value on helping others.
“The moment I truly felt the impact that you have on someone by lending a hand is when I helped a handicapped toddler off a boat while I was snorkeling in the Dominican Republic,” Alex said, “he was missing a leg, but he was so happy and loving life… That moment was when I decided that I want to be in the medical field to continue to help people.”
Outside of school, Alex enjoys visiting the beach and going snorkeling, watching movies at Bella Terra with his friends, playing piano, and going to our local Souplantation. Alex also enjoys Mexican food as his favorite cultural cuisine.
In his spare time, Alex likes reading Mitch Albom novels and Harry Potter. He fancies the Harry Potter series so much, he considers himself an undercover wizard along with his Pekingese sidekick Dobby. When Alex isn\’t writing for the Baron Banner, he is watching the new hit show, Glee.
Alex is somewhat of a world traveler having visited Vietnam, Thailand, France, and Mexico and wants to travel more especially to Europe and Africa. In his lifetime, he wants to live in France and Italy and experience their unique cultures.
